Making of the KY Oaks Garland- Live Broadcast with Jordan Rivers!

Join Jordan Rivers this afternoon at Kroger in Middletown for the Making of the KY Oaks Garland of the Lillies from 5-7pm!

Kroger uses approximately 145 Starfighter Lilies on the Garland.
•This year, Kroger is using Italian Ruscus and Gardenia Leaves for the Garland’s greenery.
• Kroger will have 10 people working on the greenery bundles for 6 hrs. (60 hrs. total) to make the Oaks Garland’s boarder.
• Each Lilly is hand tied on the Garland in its own water tube lying on a layer of white tulle.
• The winning jockey also receives a Garland of Starfighter Lillie’s.
• The Garland of Lilies weighs about 20 lbs.
• Kroger designed the Oaks Garland and made the first Garland of Lilies in 1991.
• The Garland will go in a silver glass case after it is completed and will be escorted out to Churchill Downs.
